Who does it? I'm thinking of getting a 4-track or 8-track for some general messing about and so i can just do something with friends rather than being all serious about it all the time, something cheap like £300-£400, i have been looking here,
then you just need a way to get audio into your computer. If you want to record more than 1 audio chanle at a time you will need a sound card with multiple in's _________________ Download my e.p. here

^This^ lots. With a DAW you can use it at whatever level you want, with an 8-track you've got nowhere to go and 8 tracks is nothing. You have a shitload more options and expansion options, plus you can get much better effects, and most impoprtnaly you have way more control over your recordings.
This way you can record Audio from guitars etc. and also play with software synths as well to serate all sorto of fun sounds. Also the dials on the keyboard can be used to controll for instance the softwares mixing desk so your not loosing that interactive part, Which iknow i missed when i first used comuters for recording.
1/2 the proce of an 8 track 10x more flexible and expandable if you want. _________________ Download my e.p. here
I am planning on getting a Line6 Toneport UX2 to use with my MacBook (when I get it in a couple of weeks). I am planning on using Audacity (free recording/editing software), Garage Band (which comes with the Mac) and the software with comes with the UX2.
Has anyone had any experience with the UX2, and if so, what do you think of it?

The general consensus from what I've heard seems to be: It works, but it doesn't sound all that great. I've never used one though - I'd guess it's fine for demos and mucking about at home but not good enough to use on a CD.

You know what, We used the most basic equip for recording the Art Phag EP and we used Reason and Garageband. Now, everyone slags off Garageband, but i think it's rad considering it's free.

I got a digital 4 track for £130 on ebay awhile back. It's not the best quality but its not half bad, perfect for demos! _________________ seeing meant more than safety.
