Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i guess it is a bit "band member services" and possible a bit of "downloads and releases" but the idea should fit under this catergory too.

Basically, I'm just wondering if other local bands, with myspace/twitter/facebook pages, would be up for helping spread the word about new and other local bands, via messages/tweets etc.

I feel Norwich and East Anglian bands should stick together, and often if people follow certain bands on twitter/myspace/facebook, they'll probably like a few other Norwich bands that they may not have heard about.

What i propose is that bands help each other out by posting tweets/messages to followers and place bands in their "top friends" on social networking sites, to help spread the word about other bands they see fit.

I have a new band, Deers. We're a 5 piece with members from 4 previous Norwich bands (the long time promise, innocence or otherwise, kodeta and dragline) and we're relatively unheard of. We've posted stuff on here but I know a lot of people use social networking sites to check out new/local bands, rather than Norwich Darkside. So, if other local bands with a following, would be willing to promote other bands via top friends or messages, i feel it would really help out new bands.

We have a myspace page and we are of course willing to do the same in return. If other bands want to drop us a message (www.myspace.com/wearedeers) we will take a look and if we like what we hear, we'll let our "friends" know about you.

I know you may get bands who you dont like ask for help, or they may be a death metal band asking to appeal to a punk bands fans. In these cases, i'm sure a polite reply can be issued.

I'd love for Norwich bands to pull together and help each other by a simple act of social networking. Its all about spreading the word via the internet and I think this could be a good place to start for new bands.

i've messaged a few already via myspace and await replies. If people have any recommendations/thoughts, let me know, and if people would like to help put our name about a little, we'd be very appreciative and do our best to return the favour.

Try again Steve, but be a bit more of a "n00b" and invite some "flaming". That usually attracts attention from the 4 people that still regularly use this forum.

Well we're up for that - sorry, just noticed this post amongst my usual Darkside skimmings. Hit us up with the swap details.

Plus Dragline were the best band ever. Fact.

We're still cunts though, so that's OK.

Everyone is a cunt deep down, fact.

I'll add you guys on myspace and we'll send out some links via posts on there and twitter - thanks! In return it'd be great if you could do the same! i wont be able to do it until this evening as i'm at work, but i'm just looking to spread the word and make people aware of our existance.

Dragline were immense and we're lucky to have Jim on drums with us, except he's buggered off to New Zealand for a month now! Hope to be gigging in Feb/march!

My new band have our first gig at the end of Feb, and I used to be in Dragline too. We should play gigs together. We'd be awesome.
