Hello everyone. Just on the off chance, we're looking for someone to arrange/compose strings on one of our songs for our 3rd album. If you know someone, please forward the message. Thanks

What are you actually looking for? A proper written arrangement for other people to play? I can 'write' string parts, but I can't read or write music.

Agreed, I can't write music anymore but if I could then this wouldn't be tricky at all. It's only one song and more than likely only for a few sections, you only need one melody and a couple of harmonies...

You can't say writing music is "easy" or "tricky" - it's an artform innit. The quality depends on the skillz.

Well I hope one of you helps to write this person a stringed arrangement then in that case, bragging about how easy it is won't prove anything. Prove your worth and show us the result is what i say!

Most composers use software nowadays. Earlier I was reading this piece on Digital Perfomer by Michael Giacchino (just picked up an Oscar for his work on "Up").

Coming up with the music is the challenging part. Whether you then print it out or run it through a rompler isn't really an issue.

Very Happy
Guess that came over a bit wrong!!!
No bragging intended. Wink
What I meant was I'm making an ok living with it.
I work with a pro arranger and orchestra for bigger projects, but point taken about the 'PC' samples. Just a tool of the trade chap.
I haven't heard anything back as yet anyway so I'll be off. Wink

Happy scoring.

Hi there- by this time I guess you might have got someone to write your parts for you, just thought I'd offer anyway! I am a student of the Guildhall School of Music in London, and am an experienced arranger. I have studied with Simon Hale (Jamiroquai, Paloma Faith, Lemar) in London, and Brent and Clare Fischer (Michael Jackson, Prince) in LA. My website is edblunt.co.uk, and you can email me at edblunt@btinternet.com.

Cheers,

Ed
