I'm trying to source some new "grips" (I have no idea what theyre called) for a pair of sennheiser headphones - they developed a break in the cable at the point of the grips & as such i've had to remove the wires entirely, cut beyond the point of the break & re-prep them.

they look like this:

it looks moulded onto the cable so lord knows how they get them on - is it plausible to source new ones of these that can be fitted onto the remaining wire?

alternatively, is it plausible to just source a new complete length of headphone wire (twin wire, single conductors + shield/ground) with the moulded slack/grip bits attached?

Thanks in advance,
Darren.

Hi DazH,

It just so happens that I'm having to repair a PSU for one of our guitarists radio mic transmitter. The cable has broken just at it's moulded inlet into the PSU. I'll be looking into options in the very near future and will keep you posted.

Hi again,

So far I have found the following, not sure if they are going to be any good for your headphones though.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=Cable%20Exit%20Grommet&source=15

If I find any more in store I'll post.

Dave,
cheers for that - it's helped somewhat to determine what i'm looking for - i'm pretty much just chucking the words "strain relief" "headphone" "gromet" "gland" together in search engines - i'm sure i'l find something eventually, heh.
