stay away from active pickups, less tone than a jewish arse cheek! go for bareknuckle
active pickups do have their uses. I find that with the EMG 81's very focused dynamic range its a good guitar for tracking in the studio, they're also sickening easy to treat and mix because they dont lose the focus under extreme gain or effects.
I dont like Bare Knuckles, i find them flabby and often they're too overwound. I'd take Seymours, Rio Grandes and Bardens over BK's anyday.
