'Noon peeps,

Yup, it's out there (turned up yesterday morning by all accounts).

I haven't given it a proper listen yet but my first impression is simply:

Songs: okay, some are even good
Production: BAD

Seriously, the snare is awful again (not quite St. Anger, but not far off), it's far too dry (no 'verb), and it's been limited so heavily there's popping and clipping all over the place. Plug regularly put out CDs sounding more pro than this.

Steve

I think it's pretty good actually.

I agree about the production but I'm hoping that's as a result of the bit transfer rather than the actual production.

We shall see when I purchase the real thing!!!

Give it a go Matt, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Be warned though, it's NOT pop punk so you might not like it..... Wink

Cheers

This is terrible, what are they trying to do? Its not dirty or raw sounding, its just sounds like it was recorded in someones living room. Whats going on with the bass guitar? is there one? What is that snare? were the guitars recorded in a cupboard?

I'm actually disliking the songs because the production is so terrible. Somebody should kick Metallica up the chuff and stop telling them that bad production isnt cool.

Because even if this was a pre-production version or even a demo its very lame quality for a band as rich and established as Metallica

Take your head out of your arse and go and comment on stuff you like for a change.

Leave the "shit" music to sensible people.

Corrrrrrrrr, that was well tough!
Where exactly was my head up my arse? i made a comment regarding production values, something thats been called into question with the new Metallica material, not just by me, but by the whole industry. I could hardly listen to the songs because the production is so awful. If you cant take opinions about the guys you want to bum you shouldnt bother posting on an internet forum.

My friend Sinead just old me that apparently most of the leaked copies have come from a 128kb/ps WMA rip - someone managed to get a copy from a French store who were mistakenly selling the album early, but fucked up the rip. Even the ones claiming to be at 320 are 128 too, according to analytical web nerds!

Trust you to come up with a gay opinion.

And where did you get your information from that the"whole industry" thinks the production stinks. I have read several reviews from highbrow publications that have considered the cd to sound great.

Or are you just another of these internet geeks that repeat everything you've read on the net?
