Er, and what would you classify as a venue? I thought a venue was where an event was held, like, er, a gig perhaps?
I thought the QC was pretty good last time I went there. And I don't think we should be complaining about Norwich's venues, more like trying to support the ones we have. _________________
i think qc is lucky. why aren't people building purpose-built venues? there's a definite niche there. look how utterly terrible the waterfront is, and it's our premier rock joint. it could be so much better. why isn't it?
and i don't mean, 'why isn't it?' as in, 'why couldn't you make this old boat shed a better music venue?'. i suggested that bands should be demanding massive sums for their shows, but maybe if we had 'thee venue' the benchmark would be set for other so called 'music venues', chiefly, pubs with low ceilings, and..god knows else what with the stage on the side.

I think he believes that if you just "demand" something, it'll pop out of thin air. Not to mentioin that if bands charge stupid amounts, then the venue will just have to pay them or never get any bands? What a crock of shit.
And it's not the venues that are the problem, it's the people. I've never seen a city as apathetic as Norwich when it comes to going to see live music. _________________
I go away for coupla years and come back to find the same people bullying folk for expressin an opinion. you lot are ridiculous. I agree with the dude, Actually i've played the qc a coupla times, and IN MY EXPERIENCE AND OPINION, it's a shithole. I've patronised job centres with more musical integrity. partly reason i disappeared b4 was cos o the general attitude towards people you don't class as 'in your gang'. you guys are lovely, just as long as you being agreed with, like fucking school kids. You know wot? you can go "wah wah wah, shannon just insulted us, wot a knob blah blah blah" as much as you like, you're insignificant pasty-faced geeks who've finally found a way of harassin n griefin people without gettin your mincey asses kicked, n that kind of makes you irrelevant. unless of course you were just engagin in friendly dialogue, in which case i might be over reacting. i AM a bit tired come to think of it. Still...Anyway is the QC still going? i've heard bout it's death several times now? 2 be honest norwich might as well not have any venues, considering the quality of music that seems to get regular exposure. it's a funny old place, got some really good original bands that no-one ever goes to see, unless they suck the clique-y cock that is, you know, hang around the same old people tellin them "you're ideas are great and not at all contrived or gleaned from somewhere else" then said clique-y crowd may bestow favours. At least that just the way it seem to my tired brain at mo. I'm not really that venomous normally, it's just i'm frontman to Norwich's Undisputed Finest Original Rock Band, and can we get some reply or attention from anyone in the scene? can we fuck.Arts Centre? waterfront? All Sorted? Howlback hum? Wombat Wombat? all that other stuff supposedly supporting 'good' local bands? bollocks. How many other local original bands hav survived the last 8 years? how many, like us, have consistently played cover pubs without compromise for the last 8 years? you know why? Cover pubs will still book original bands, IF THEY ARE GOOD! Simple fact. shame though isn't it, when places like the blueberry, eddy 7 n boundary, who get sneered at for booking cover bands, are the only venues in this city that recognise a fantastic rock band when they see one, regardless of what material that band plays. anyway i've got off track a bit, n it's lunchtime, love ya n leave ya
