What's the easiest way to burn an AVI file onto DVD for use in a normal DVD video player, using a PC? I'm getting bogged down in VOB and other stuff I don't want to know about...

winavi converter is good although i believe it is only trial period free, but you can acquire it all over the internet. i then use nero to burn to dvd. _________________ -one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter-

There's a program called something like 'X-to-DVD', which (as the name suggests) will convert pretty much anything to DVD - I haven't really used it but my dad swears by it.
I've also got one cannily named 'Media Coder' which will do it to - it's a bitch to use though, and it lets you convert from and to lots of formats. If you ever need to make stuff smaller to fit it on a CD/upload it etc. it's great. Not sure about converting to DVD though, I haven't used it for that yet.

I've got a paid-for version of Nero 7 Premium and that comes with an easy to use DVD authoring suite. I used it to convert an old Repressed Desire AVI to DVD with full menus, slideshow, and everything in a few minutes without having to read any manuals. I think it cost me about £50. _________________

Haha, man I'd love to see that!
If you're looking for DVD authoring stuff, DVD Architect is fantastic - but it's Sony, fairly pro and fucking expensive.

Nick was meant to give it back to me before I moved down the Essex, but he's held on to it. It's a video of one of our last gigs at the Ferryboat recorded by the lovely Gamble. It's got some of our best new songs which never made it onto CD. _________________
