Right first off, i don't care if you dont like itunes, i also dont care if i shouldnt use itunes, or if there is better software, thats not the issue
Ok, i deleted itunes because i fucked it up, and i tried to re-install it, however, it seems to install far too quickly, i.e in 2 seconds, and then its just not there.
I.e its telling me that it has installed, but it hasn't.
Is there anyway to get round this? its extremely annoying!

have you looked here: C:\Program Files\iTunes as if itunes is installed it will be somewhere like that, if so it is just a case of creating a shortcut to the itunes application file. _________________ -one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter-

It'll still be sitting in the registry somewhere - but I have no idea where, and I'm not going to tell you how to edit it on here anyway because it'll more than likely go wrong...

i accept no responsibility for this but if you go to start then 'run' and type in regedit you will get a list of the registry. you should see a folder bar to the left, go on the 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT', 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' AND 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' one by one and do this for them all:
go to the software folder and then to the 'Apple Computer, Inc.' Folder and then remove the registry files for bonjour, ipod and itunes. this should do the trick but please do this at your own risk. _________________ -one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter-
Y'know. I already tried that.
But none of those seem to help. I can't get the music folder on my start bar to link to my music folder in 'my documents'.

You are a braver man than I
Ginge :
Quote:
Click on Start
Clin on Run
Type in "regedit" Enter
Do this step twice as there are two locations.
CTRL F
Type in "My Music"
Double Click and enter the path for where the folder is located.
Then exit.
It should now work.
The exact locations of the 2 entries that I changed are:
hkey_current_user - software - microsoft - windows - current version - explorer - shell folders
and
as above - windows - current version - explorer - USER shell folders
Try changing the two items from there - if these have already been changed then I'm not sure what to suggest.
First result of the Google search.
As for "I can't get the music folder on my start bar to link to my music folder in 'my documents'. " - I have no idea what you're trying to do; the 'My Music' link on the start bar IS the 'My Music' folder, it's just a shortcut

He obviously has his music in a folder other that "my music" and wants the actual my music folder to link to where ever he stores his tunes. _________________

So you're smart enough to make smug comments about what he actually means, but too smug to actually help him out? *Applauds*
If that's the case, it's pointlessly complicated - all you need to do is move the music instead. I'm pretty sure even Ginge could have worked out that out though, so I'm guessing (well, hoping) that's not the problem.

No, I just don't know.
I aint no computer tech guy and I never claim to be. I can however read.
I'd like to know how to do this also all my music is on a separate hard drive that I've had since waaay before my most recent windoof install plus I can't be arsed to move 60gb.
Is there a way to link the 2 folders in this way or not? _________________
ok, the music icon on the start bar is indeed a shortcut.
However, i cant delete it, or swap it , or move it or anything infact. It just doesn't work.
The thing is, itunes uses this shortcut to get to my music-which is dumb, but not my fault.
So i need to sort this file out, or itunes just wont bloody open! i hate using winamp!
But i changed the regedit shit, exactly like some geek website told me to, and it wont work!!
