Ok, I have a 'few' albums I've 'obtained' over the last few weeks and I want to listen to them on my car stereo.
Anyhoo, basically I'm using Recordnow to make a music CD from audio files (MP3's) on my PC.
Here's where it gets strange, I burnt a copy of one album and it worked, I tried the other and the player rejects the CD.
However, the rejected CD works in my DVD Player, XBOX and Boomie.
I've checked ALL the properties of each MP3 on both albums and the only differences I saw were bit rate and the fact the titles of the songs on the album that worked had underscores instead of embedded spaces.
SO,
I filled the embedded spaces in the song titles on the album that didn't work with underscores, still no joy.
Could there have been some encryption of any kind?

Different bitrate...? I recently found the software I was using to burn audio files onto CD was rejecting files that were 48Khz or something, used the freebie Audacity to change them to the standard 44.1, and it then worked...

not all players like playing copied cds, especially car stereos, you really need to look for the ones that state they will play a cdr etc. the majority of newer players do play them but some of the older ones (well more than a couple of years ago) are a bit iffy and will only play some copied cds. have they been recorded onto the same make and type of cd? _________________ -one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter-

The stereo is about 4 years old but happily plays the majority of my CDR repros (I don't like to keep 'proper' CD's in the car in case they get nicked) quite happily.
I used same brand CD's too, yeah.
The only differences between the two albums I've already stated, it's most bizarre.

Like BJG said, sample rate/bit rate can be a problem - CD players will only work at 44.1Khz/16bit (that's the official redbook CD audio standard too).
DVD audio is much higher quality, and so DVD players (and therefore your X-Box too) will play 96Khz/24bit, even up to 192Khz in certain cases.
However - I'm guessing by "boomie" you mean a portable stereo jobbie right? In theory, if the bit rate is too high than that shouldn't play it either. In that case, there is a tag in the ID tag which says whether an MP3 is protected or not. Not many stereos pay attention to it, but some do so it could be that. Some PC-based players don't show it in the tag info, so the surefire way to check is right-click in Windows and go to 'properties->summary' (make sure you're on the advanced version).
Beyond that, I don't think you can encrypt MP3s like that - you can with WMA, MP4/MPA though, so I may be wrong.
EDIT: And check the actual CD for dirt etc. - my PC will play pretty much anything, but my DVD player spits CDs back out if there's the tiniest speck of dirt on them.
