For the life of me i can find a decent program to play them!
Steve to the rescue! Again! I've got a FLAC player on my computer somewhere.
Actually thinking about it, I'm really lazy - plus the latest version of WinAmp plays them, just get that. It'll pretty much play anything you throw at it now.

Yeah there's probably a winamp plugin that lets you play FLAC encoded files. _________________ Keep up with local events and plug your own gigs!

The point of FLAC is that it is a lossless format. Converting FLAC to MP3 is like shitting on your own doormat. _________________ Keep up with local events and plug your own gigs!

It's been built in since version 5.31 according to the FLAC website. It plays OGG and Monkey Audio straight out of the box too now.
G - it's an awesome format, so converting it to MP3 would kinda miss the point. The files are only slightly bigger than 128Kbps MP3s, but it's an identical copy of the original audio - so no weird washy sounds to cymbals or nasty artefacts.
It's also possible to convert FLAC files back in WAV with virtually no distinguishable difference - so you can convert a load of big files into little ones, stick them on your MP3 player and take them somewhere else, and then convert them back. For moving around high quality audio it's fantastic.
