THE INVISIBLE -
2009 really was a stellar year for The Invisible – ‘The Invisible’ was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize, and was also selected by the iTunes UK editorial team as ‘iTunes Album Of The Year’.
The Invisible are a South London trio who create ‘exploratory, expansive pop music’. Their eponymous debut album was produced by Matthew Herbert and released via Matthew’s Accidental Records label in March 2009.
The Invisible have taken their sound across the UK and Europe, sharing stages with Doves, Foals, Michachu & The Shapes, Hot Chip and others.
Dave Okumu – guitar, vocals; Tom Herbert – bass; Leo Taylor – drums
As meticulously designed as its outward appearance is, it’s the endless possibility of human expression that truly drives the core sound of The Invisible. Passion and sincerity above box-ticking stylistic traits: it’s this approach to the trio’s chosen art that fuels the fire burning deep into the soul of every second of their music.
"What you notice immediately is just how splendidly these songs fit together, almost like a deceptively simple jigsaw puzzle. The skittish lo fi rhythms blend sublimely with the meandering melodies." - Audioscribbler
"You can't exactly bop along to this pop meets prog meets folk meets Mason Williams with harmony vocals, but the song writing ingenuity is certainly there to be admired" - Evening News
