GROWING
Thrumming, multi-hued, sinusoidal drones, loops and jittering crescendos from Brooklyn, New York. Growing’s percussive delays and wall of shimmering kaleidoscopic noise are like super-slow rave meets wide-eyed and positive doom metal.
Growing was formed in 1999 when Joe DeNardo moved into a house in Olympia, Washington where Kevin Doria lived. A few months later they began playing guitars in the basement under the name 1000 AD. Their early two guitar sound stressed repetition, physical volume, sustain, and harmonic density. Over the course of ten years the band has constantly expanded and re-defined their sound, benefiting from a total lack of boundaries, taking on structure, space, layering, and the occasional folk influence, in addition to their patented wall of warm swelling guitar tone stretching out into infinity. More recently they have incorporated varied electronics, samples, and vocal parts with the addition of new member Sadie Laska (I.U.D., Extreme Violence). Now based in New York, their releases on Troubleman Unlimited, Rock Action, Kranky, and The Social Registry have been some of the most dramatic, dense, lush and inventive records in the field of experimental ‘rock’ in the 21st century, taking drone music to new and ever more fierce and beautiful places.

KOGUMAZA
VistaVision justified sit-down sounds from folks out of Bob Tilton, Lords, Wolves of Greece and Little Girl With Cherries. They combine the guitar density of Glenn Branca (whose orchestra two of them have been a part of) with the heavy throb of Lungfish and the insistent rhythms of Mo Tucker to create a swirling, spiritual murk.
