Punk by numbers - nothing new, The jinx
Norwich five piece punk band Present there latest and greatest take on everything from from politics to war.

The Jinx have been around for a while now and it is only recently that they have started to make a name for themselves there new EP entitled Punk by numbers - nothing new, was created to accompany there tour of England it comprises of four tracks which are

Emergency Signs - this is a very up-tempo song and it hits out at the way the media has different views to the rest of the world, it?s a very catchy song and I often find myself singing this whilst I am in the office, it has some nice riffs and the bass line really stands out. As with every track on this EP the drumming is extremely well timed and the quality is amazing with barely any ghost cymbals.
Rating - 7/10

Fuck-king Country - the next song on the EP is still on the political edge it is a look at the way our country is led and it in places is very true, it certainly seems to me that the jinx have some very good views on the world we live in. The vocal levels on this track are near perfect and the whole band seems to play like they are really enjoying it. The two guitars seem to play off each other very nicely and all in all this is a very good song.
Rating 7/10

Final Push - it seems to me that this is a reflection of the jinx?s past and there struggle to find a stable bassist and it certainly sounds like they have succeeded .This song is certainly one of the best songs I have heard for a very long time it is a very well written, produced and played piece of work. It certainly makes this EP stand out. All in all the whole band should be very proud of what they have done here, from the very constant well held bass line to the very nice solo that doesn?t overshadow the rest of the song but adds a nice finishing touch to It,
Rating 9/10

hundredth victim - This song is about certain countries constant push for pointless wars and it certainly is a good song to end the album on it leaves a sweet taste in your mouth and leaves you wanting more home-grown punk, once again I was amazed by the sheer quality of the drumming and the vocals on this CD it has some really nice breaks and the final monologue left me in stitches!!
Rating 8/10

Unlike other Critics I am not going to criticize the recording quality of this EP because I think that this is a well recorded EP with great levels and it seems like a lot of work (and money) has gone into this over the past year the band have worked very hard getting themselves out there and I recommend that other young bands take a look at what The jinx do and make notes because although sometimes they may not seem like it but they are a very well organized band. If you don?t own a copy of this CD I suggest you get one because you will love it.

OVERALL RATING 9/10

Until next time sports fans
